Who we are
Pastoralist Adaptive Initiatives for Resilience.
Registered in Kenya in 2024 to serve pastoralist communities in Kenya’s arid and semi-arid lands. Our work starts with what communities tell us, and is co-created with them.

Mission
PAIR partners with pastoralist communities through participatory research to transform local priorities into solutions that fight hunger, improve health and well-being, promote equity and strengthen livelihoods.
Vision
A future where pastoralist communities live with dignity, grow in resilience and open pathways to opportunity, anchored in equality and shared humanity.
Values
- Empathy & inclusivity
We put people first. Every voice, especially women, youth and marginalised groups, is heard, respected and valued.
- Partnership
Change is only possible together: with pastoralist communities, governments and the private sector.
- Resilience
Resilience is the hallmark of pastoralist communities. For PAIR it means more than survival: the ability to thrive.
- Social innovation
Bold challenges demand bold solutions, from market-driven models to evidence like the Community One Health Index.
- Sustainability
Today’s solutions should strengthen tomorrow’s opportunities, so communities prosper across generations.
